Lauer’s Supermarket & Bakery will close both its locations after 45 years of operation, the owners announced in a letter.

The store’s Chesterfield location on Edwin Raynor Boulevard will close Sept. 30. The Riviera Beach location on Fort Smallwood Road will close Oct. 14.

“To own and operate two supermarkets in the same community was a dream come true for the Lauer family,” owners Bernadette Snoops and Babette Poyer wrote in a letter. “It has been an incredible journey for the Lauer family to serve and be part of the Pasadena community.”

Lauer’s first opened in 1974 when Ed and Helen Lauer opened the Chesterfield location. They acquired the second location in 1982. The business celebrated its 45 year anniversary in February.

Snoops and Poyer thanked employees and community members for their support over the years and assured customers that both locations will remain independently owned.

“It has been a privilege to experience the dedication of a number of individuals that have been part of our family since 1974,” they wrote in the letter. “We have had the pleasure to see families grow as generation after generation have walked through our doors as Lauer’s employees. Thank you to each and every person that has committed their time to the Lauer’s Supermarket mission.”

Geresbeck Food Market has acquired the Riviera Beach location. Green Valley Marketplace has acquired the Chesterfield store.
